General Membership April 6, 2024 Annual Meeting.

The 10th Annual General Membership meeting of the Twin Palms Neighborhood Organization (TPNO) was held on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at the historic Ocotillo Lodge Clubhouse. The two featured speakers were Teresa Gallavan, City of Palm Springs Assistant City Manager, and Eric Chiel, the founding past-chairperson of TPNO. The agenda included election of Advisory Board members for two year terms.

Over 60 people enjoyed a full continental breakfast starting at 9:45 am, with time to socialize with their neighbors before the formal portion of the meeting began at 10:15 am.

The meeting was chaired by Carol Munro, Board chairperson. She introduced our guest speaker, Teresa Gallavan, Assistant City Manager for the City of Palm Springs. She shared information on a number of current issues facing the City, followed by a Q and A session.

ERIC CHIEL AWARD

A special moment of the meeting was the presentation of the Fifth Eric Chiel Leadership Award to our past Communication Officer, Jeffery Burnell, for his outstanding contributions to TPNO.  His expertise will leave a lasting legacy on our social media presence and improved communications with our membership.

ERIC CHIEL PRESENTATION

Eric Chiel, our unofficial Twin Palms historian, is dedicated to uncovering and sharing the rich tapestry of our neighborhood’s history.  His myth-busting presentation, “Twin Palms Lost. Twin Palms Found”, included fascinating moments in our early neighborhood history in the 50’s and 60’s that have been forgotten, overlooked, or incompletely documented.

RECAP ACCOPLISHMENTS, ONGING ACTIVITIES AND PLANNED ACTIVITIES

Other meeting highlights including recapping our accomplishments since our last General Membership meeting in October 2023, updates on ongoing activities, and outlining Planned activities.
